Our History

The Walker Bay Theater was founded and known as the Minnesota Folklore Theater in 2008 in Akeley, opening at the old Akeley school for one year before moving to a venue on Highway 34.

Following establishment of three production 'summer season' and expansion of 'youth' programming, the theater moved 10 miles East to Walker, Minnesota. The "Live and Local" Walker Bay Theater was born in 2011. We are now at "home" since 2019 in the facility at 609 Minnesota Avenue.

Our Mission

Walker Bay Theater is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, incorporated with the Secretary of State and registered as non-profit and tax exempt with the IRS. We operate under the supervision of a seven member board of directors made of volunteers.

The mission of the Walker Bay Theater is to create, develop and present professional musical and dramatic productions that will further the knowledge and appreciation of the culture and heritage of the United States.

We, the unpaid volunteer Board of Directors make every effort to offer family friendly productions and to maintain a welcoming atmosphere for all.
